Vanta is an electronic music project of mine. Every color and image represented in the design relates to the color and mood of the sound that I visualize while recording. Some artworks are digital collage, some are digital painting, and some are a combination of both. I am fascinated with creating album artworks that visualize sound.
The Prism and My Mind Is Electric singles as well as Blueboy - EP will be released later on in 2020. The digital single Feel Like is out now on Wonderlust.
The Judy Bolton Mystery series is the longest running teen mystery series with 38 original volumes beginning in the early 1930s. The author of the series, Margaret Sutton, is my great-grandaunt. The main competitors at the time of the series’ release were Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys.
For these jacket designs I updated the medium from 1930s painting and illustration to photo collage and digital painting. The type and layout is simplified for a modern, digestible look. The color schemes are simple yet intriguing and the typography speaks not only to the time period but also to the mystery genre. The nostalgia is still there, but it is presented with a modern film-like twist.
This identity rebrand concept was centered on balance, geometry and consistency. Since the current Ace Hardware mark is already so recognizable, I decided to explore further options in order to improve on it. This design derives from three basic shapes all sharing the angle that is memorable from the current mark. The stencil-like shapes fitting together mirror the idea of building or constructing.
The rest of the system rollouts intend to maximize clarity and consistency across the board. Ace Hardware has a lot of products, so the more clarity the better.
Humwire is a native application that allows users to discover, jam and collaborate with serious and professional musicians nearby. The music industry moves fast, and there are many artists who may not necessarily take music as a serious profession. This app validates the legitimacy of artists and their content by requiring sign in to upload tracks and friend requests. When it comes time to message, there is a greater chance for compatibility and musical success. The app also puts an emphasis on displaying relevant content as streamlined and accessible as possible, opening up the opportunities. Sharing and saving tracks and artists is an added feature that will allow musicians to keep track of potential future opportunities.
This social issue poster is meant to bring to light health issues caused by unnatural sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose. The concept behind the poster was to depict a literal interpretation of the negative effects and display it in a graphic, dramatic, psychedelic manner. Artificial sweeteners have many more side effects than many people realize, and over time these sweeteners can cause irreversable damage, especially to the brain. The NIH funds, implements and accelerates medical health research across the board.
At SCAD I was tasked to create an invitation for the Pierre Cardin: Pursuit of the Future exhibition at the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion. The invite reflects the style of the designer and the works on display. The design is based on one dress that I felt captured the theme of the exhibition.
Retrofuturism, space and science fiction were inspirations when designing. Die cutting and foiling was used. This invite was intended to have a limited number produced so that the elegance of the design could be elevated.
While studying motion media at SCAD, I was tasked to rebrand a television network. My goal was to bring back the weirdness and uniqueness of MTV in a style that is retro yet still relevant today. The 1980s are back in style and I kept this in mind while designing. Rough, grungy film paired with neon psychedelic visuals seemed to fit the network well.
The goal of this promotion book was to showcase different Mohawk paper stocks in an engaging way. Grammy award-winning producer Flume was a great candidate for this book because his corresponding vibrant art and visuals allow the Mohawk paper to showcase its versatility and quality when printed. The book includes foil, die cuts, glistening cover stock, fold-outs and a Flume sticker.
The reasoning behind this identity rebrand concept was to bring the hard cider company’s concept to its full potential. The name Bad Seed speaks to both the idea of someone who misbehaves but also a bad seed in an apple. The mark expresses this with a crooked tree that is bearing crooked fruit. The tree illustration gives more personality and visual interest to the brand. The packaging was updated with color to give more life to both the cans and bottles.
